Bloodshore is a simulation game about a televised battle royale between different streamers and entertainers worldwide. The winning contestant is given a considerable amount of money. This can change their life completely, but you must control Nicks's fate and decide which action he takes to win this prize.

Featuring over 8 hours of FMV footage, this sandbox title is packed with choices and has multiple outcomes. You'll have to team up with other players to survive, but who do you trust? It's not all melodrama and eerie visuals; there's some brutal violence going on in Bloodshore. Taking place on a secluded island with 50 combatants from across the globe, you'll have to work through each character, form relationships and take out some infamous players before they can claim the cash prize.

PLOT

The cheesy, gory battle royale style is all the rage in shooters, but it's also making its way into the FMV space in Bloodshore. This latest KillStream series sees some of the hottest reality TV stars thrown onto the battlefield for a death match, all with a prize to win. In Bloodshore, you play Nick Romeo, a washed-up former child actor thrown into the show by his former employer, who has given him a chance to earn a fortune while competing against various celebrities and Youtube streamers. Winning the game would give him everything he needs to live a new life, but before you can get there, a mysterious event has occurred, and it's up to you to figure out what's happening behind the scenes on Bloodshore Island.

INTERACT WITH OTHER CHARACTERS

You'll have to rely on your intuition and instincts to survive, but as you progress and interact with the other characters, you'll discover much more about what is happening on the island than you may have initially thought. Some surprises are thrown into the mix, like a hidden camera that can record your decisions for you to watch later and an additional challenge where you have to fight off two opponents simultaneously. While the story is entertaining in parts, it's a shame that the passive nature of FMV titles often leaves the player feeling less involved than they would have liked. Bloodshore has good acting and a great cast, but it's let down by a lack of a branching narrative and a sometimes passive gameplay experience.

GAMEPLAY

You'll have to make many decisions throughout the game, and it all comes down to your choices that will decide how the story ends. You can change your choices at any point in the game. This means that you can have a very different experience from the first time you played through it, which is always interesting. There's plenty of variety in the game itself too, and it's packed with over 8 hours of FMV footage from Wales Interactive. This is a massive record for an FMV title, so there are loads to see and do.

CHARACTERS

It's also a unique story with a great cast of characters whose personalities and behaviours are very believable. It's all very well designed and looks pretty good, especially the environment. In the end, Bloodshore is an exciting game with a few flaws, but it's also a great example of how to tell a story using FMV. It's not perfect, and you can do a lot to improve it, but it has some great ideas for how you can play the game, and it's worth a try if you like the idea of a real adventure with an authentic ending.

CONCLUSION
